I finally went through all my ETSY e-mails, finding a great deal of valuable information. I am not sure if others take the time to do this, so I thought I'd share the article that I found to be the most helpful.
22 ETSY New Year's Resolutions You'll Want to Make

I might throw out all my other New Year's Resolutions and just go with these !
Enjoy,

Green Mt. Boys in Afghanistan by landscapelady
I just wanted to share with you a group of quilts that I am proud of making (tooting my own horn, or bugle in this case). A mother of one of the green mt boys that were deployed last year asked if I could make 7 art quilts all the same to give to the group of mothers that she knows that also have sons serving with hers. She showed me a few pictures of the base and the area in Herrera Afghanistan, where they are stationed and wanted sort of a combo of vermont and Afghanistan. The above is what I came up with - the mountains in the distance are like the ones in Herrera and if you look close, the green mountain in front of that is camel's hump, then of course the green hills of vermont - leading down to the CO Herrera. which looks alittle weird but the base in the pictures looks like all tan cylinders with sandbags all around it. I used some stuff that you put under rugs to keep them from moving, dyed them with tea to look tanish and sewed them. The tree trunks are made from one of her sons uniforms - I cut in thin strips and then sort of twisted them to look like an olive tree trunk. The back of the quilt also is made of the leftover uniform pants that she gave me and I left a pocket intack so she can put pictures or what ever in there. The green thing hanging from the top is supposed to symbolize the green mt boys flag which is green, of course with blue and white stars in the corner. The name of his company is Alpha.
I really had fun making this and shows you are only limited by your imagination, so the sky's the limit as far as I'm concerned. The only thing I did not enjoy was making so many of the same thing and I probablly will never do 7 of one thing again, but it was for a good cause and I did make them all a little different to keep my interest. Now on to the next project - warmth -mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ;)

Monthly Challenges for 2011
Each Month the MIVEST will have at least one team challenge. The members are encouraged to post a new item in their shop that pertains to that month’s theme. Each month the new item will need to have a distinctive tag (e.g. vermontmadeteam02-11). The beginning of each month a Conversation Thread will be started by the Challenge Coordinator on the Yahoo Group message board listing the Theme for that months challenge.
Each team member participating in the challenge will post a link to the item that pertains to the theme. Team members will vote on their favorite item. Voting each month will close on the last day of the month at midnight. The Winner’s shop will receive as “Spot Light” feature on the Teams Public Blog, and a link to this “Spot Light” feature will be posted to the teams Facebook and Twitter account the following month.
Rules: All submissions must be in by the 15th of the month. Only Items posted in the Monthly Thread the Challenge Coordinator started will be part of the monthly challenge. Please do not leave links in the monthly challenge thread that lead anything other than your entry. Please create or use other threads for chit chat and other discussions. These rules and a list of upcoming monthly themes will be listed on the team’s private blog.
The theme for February is….
Warmth … Ways to stay warm as the days get longer.
Please start to think about what item you want to enter into the February Challenge.
Ready… Set… Go…!
